Saudi Energy signs Expo power deal: SASCO ordered to vacate Riyadh station

Expo 2030’s infrastructure programme moved from planning into physical delivery this week. A signed power-supply agreement and a site-clearance notice for an existing Riyadh landmark both point to the same shift: contracts are now being executed on the ground, not announced.

• Saudi Energy and Expo 2030 signed an agreement on 15 August covering a main supply substation, three primary substations and connecting transmission networks. Four Saudi contractors – Alfanar, Haif, TDP Construction and Trading, and Al Babtain – will build the infrastructure. The deal is designed to secure power ahead of the event, allowing testing and trial operations before opening.

• SASCO said in a filing to Tadawul that Riyadh Airports Co. has ordered it to vacate and demolish its King Salman Road station and hotel. The order clears the way for Expo 2030 works. The listed operator said it is negotiating compensation, to be disclosed once agreed.
