LAVA formalised its role as custodian of the Expo 2030 masterplan this week, and Qatar became the third Gulf state to send a delegation to the site in 11 days.
LAVA, the architecture practice that authored the Expo 2030 masterplan’s original spatial concept, was appointed Custodian on 6 August, marking the shift from concept design to detailed design and implementation. The appointment follows the practice’s World Design Awards 2026 Gold recognition. No contract value was disclosed.
Qatar became the third Gulf Cooperation Council country to send a delegation to the Expo 2030 site in 11 days. Ambassador Bandar Mohammed Abdullah Al-Attiya visited on 2 August, following Bahrain (23 July) and Kuwait (28 July). Qatar has not yet named a pavilion Commissioner General or confirmed a site plot.
Both signals point to a project moving from concept into delivery, with no new contract values disclosed this week.
