One substantive signal emerged from the week of 4–10 May: Expo 2030 Riyadh Company confirmed it is opening the next delivery phase to private capital, with a joint-venture developer for the Expo Village residential complex to be selected by early third quarter and a district cooling package expected to reach the market within weeks. Private developers enter the build (Saudi Arabia, 7 May 2026): Expo 2030 Riyadh Company is structuring a 2,200-unit Expo Village complex as a joint venture with a developer to be selected by early third quarter; construction is targeted to start later this year. A district cooling package, structured as build-and-operate, is expected to reach the market within weeks. Early infrastructure contracts awarded (Saudi Arabia, 7 May 2026): Nesma & Partners has been awarded a package covering a site-wide utility corridor, water storage and an electrical substation; Al Yamama is connecting those external networks into the two-million-square-metre event zone. Around 67 per cent of the 6.8 million cubic metre earthworks programme is complete, progressing at roughly 350,000 cubic metres per week. Completion is targeted for end of second quarter 2026.
