Cookie Policy
Effective date: April 2026
This Cookie Policy explains how Expo 2030 Riyadh News (“we”, “us”, or “our”) uses cookies and similar tracking technologies on our website at expo2030.co (the “Site”). It should be read together with our Privacy Policy.
1. What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files that a website places on your device when you visit it. They are widely used to make websites work, or work more efficiently, and to provide information to the website operator. Similar technologies — including pixels, local storage, and fingerprinting — are covered by this policy as if they were cookies.
2. Categories of cookies we use
We classify the cookies we use under three categories defined by the European ePrivacy Directive and EDPB guidance:
a) Strictly necessary cookies
These cookies are essential for the Site to function and cannot be switched off. They are usually set in response to actions you take, such as logging in, filling in forms, or setting privacy preferences. You can configure your browser to block them, but parts of the Site will not work.
- wordpress_logged_in_* — keeps you signed in to your member account (session-based, deleted on logout).
- wordpress_sec_* — secures your authenticated session against tampering.
- wordpress_test_cookie — verifies that your browser supports cookies before sign-in.
- wp-settings-* — remembers your admin interface preferences (admin users only).
- PHPSESSID — server session identifier used by the contact form’s security token (deleted when you close the browser).
b) Analytics cookies
These cookies help us understand how visitors interact with the Site by collecting and reporting information anonymously. We use them to improve the Site’s content and performance.
- _ga, _ga_*, _gid — Google Analytics 4 (tracking ID
G-93MHM4N8JM). These cookies record information about your visit such as pages viewed, time on page, and approximate location, with IP anonymisation enabled. Stored for up to 14 months.
Google Analytics is a service provided by Google LLC. Data may be transferred to the United States. See Google’s cookie policy for more information. You can opt out of Google Analytics tracking site-wide by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
c) Functionality cookies
These cookies enable enhanced functionality and personalisation, such as remembering layout preferences. The Site does not currently use any cookies in this category, but this may change in the future and we will update this policy accordingly.
3. Third-party services we embed
The Site may embed content from the following third parties, which may set their own cookies on your device when you visit pages where they are embedded. We have no control over these cookies and you should consult the respective privacy policies of these providers:
- Google Fonts — fonts.googleapis.com (no cookies set; serves the Inter typeface).
- Google Tag Manager / Analytics — analytics tracking as described above.
- YouTube / Vimeo — only when a video is embedded on a page; sets advertising and preference cookies.
- LinkedIn — when you click our LinkedIn icon and follow it back here, LinkedIn may set referral cookies.
4. How long do cookies stay on your device?
- Session cookies are deleted when you close your browser.
- Persistent cookies remain on your device for a set period or until you delete them. The longest persistent cookie we set has a 14-month lifetime (Google Analytics).
5. How to manage or disable cookies
You can control cookies through your browser settings. Most browsers allow you to:
- See what cookies are stored and delete them on a per-site basis
- Block third-party cookies
- Block cookies from specific sites
- Block all cookies from being set
- Delete all cookies when you close the browser
For instructions specific to your browser:
Please be aware that disabling strictly necessary cookies will prevent you from logging in to your member account.
6. Do Not Track signals
Some browsers can send a “Do Not Track” (DNT) signal to websites you visit. There is no industry consensus on how to respond to DNT signals. We currently do not change our cookie behaviour in response to DNT signals, but we honour explicit cookie opt-outs as described above.
7. Your data protection rights
If you are located in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or any other jurisdiction with comparable data protection laws, you have rights regarding the personal data that cookies may collect about you. These are described in our Privacy Policy and include the right to access, rectify, erase, and port your data, as well as the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.
8. Updates to this Cookie Policy
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the cookies we use, in applicable law, or in our practices. The “Effective date” at the top of this policy will indicate when the policy was last updated. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
